A Component Analysis of the Bronze Inscription "Ying"

Abstract

In the component analysis of the bronze inscription Ying, there are different points of view among the scholars.Based on careful arrangement of the character materials,we find out that Tu(土) was different from Shi(士) in early bronze inscription,and that the component of Ying was Shi(士).Ying was an allograph of the character Ying(媵),and not the character Cheng(塍).
