Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship between serum level of homocysteine and type 2 diabetic nephropathy,and to explore the clinical significance.Methods 60 patients with type 2 diabetes patients were divided into 2 groups: group A: diabetes with no nephropathy,and group B: diabetic nephropathy;and 30 healthy persons as control group.Serum homocysteine levels were detected.Results Compared with controls,serum homocysteine levels in group A and group B were significantly increased(P0.05,P0.01),serum levels of homocysteine levels in group A were significantly different from those of group B(P0.01),and with the increase of proteinuria,serum levels of homocysteine also increased accordingly.Conclusion Hyperhomocysteinaemia was probably one of the independent risk factor for type 2 diabetic nephropathy,detection of serum levels of homocysteine was helpful to the evaluation of the occurrence and development of type 2 diabetes.
