Abstract
Based on the properties of mines, the demands of GIS applications in mines and the analysis of some feasible 3D data structures, it is pointed out that TIN, 3D raster, octree, 3D vector, TEN, object oriented data structure can be suitable for different conditions, and hybrid or integrated data structure is the most efficient. And 3D data structure is the basis of 3D visualization including 3D landscape simulation, 3D data field visualization and virtual GIS applications.
