Abstract

An investigation on soil characteristics,water-holding capacity of litter and soil for four forest types was conducted in Daqing Mountain,Inner Mongolia. The results indicated:① the soil bulk density and soil total porosity(0~60 cm)for four forest types were different, the soil bulk density from high to low was Pinus tabulaeformis plantationOstry opsisdavidiana shrubs Larix principis-rupprechtii plantationnatural secendary forest of Betula platyphylla and Populus davidiana;the soil total porosity from high to low was natural secendary forest of Betula platyphylla and Populus davidianaLarix principis-rupprechtii plantationOstry opsisdavidiana shrubsPinus tabulaeformis plantation;② the amount and maximum water-holding rate of litter for four forest types were different, the amount of litter from high to low was Larix principis-rupprechtii plantationnatural secendary forest of Betula platyphylla and Populus davidianaOstry opsisdavidiana shrubsPinus tabulaeformis plantation;the maximum water-holding rate of litter from high to low was Larix principis-rupprechtii plantationnatural secendary forest of Betula platyphylla and Populus davidianaOstry opsisdavidiana shrubsPinus tabulaeformis plantation;③ based on the total water-holding capacity of litter and soil(0~60 cm),the order of water conservation function for the four forest types was natural secendary forest of Betula platyphylla and Populus davidiana(3 687.172 t/hm2)Larix principis-rupprechtii plantation(3 553.229 t/hm2)Ostry opsisdavidiana shrubs(3 035.698 t/hm2)Pinus tabulaeformis plantation(2 796.279 t/hm2).
