Abstract

Before 1945 the Islamic in Taiwan can be divided into three phases.The first phase is that Zheng He's fleet arrived in Taiwan in the late Ming and early Qing Dynasties,they moved many immigrants from the mainland,and many Hui people living in Quanzhou moved to Taiwan.The second phase is in the Qing Danasty.The Qing government unified Taiwan,set up the local government,and sent several Muslim officials from mainland there.At the same time,Chen Taiding and Bai Qiguo Hui group in Quanzhou Hui community became the major settlers in Taiwan.During the period of Japanese occupation,the Islamic group in Taiwan was suppressed,esp.in the Kominka Movement.Islamic development in Taiwan is closely related to our country's destiny.
