Comment on Non-Separation of Democracy and People’s Livelihood

The livelihood of the people is the starting point and goal of our party and governmental organizations’ work, and democracy has been a core value of the pursuit of the people's building of political civilization. Both have the inseparability of complement and mutual reinforcing, but on a deeper level they reflect the problem of the relationship between economic reform and political reform. The realization of democracy in the people’s livelihood is intended to promote democracy and protect the livelihood, which is the keynote of the Chinese-style democracy and people’s livelihood. To solve the problem of the relationship of people’s livelihood and democracy, we must focus on economic construction, which is prerequisite to addressing the livelihood issues. In the process of democratic development, the robust steps should be taken, the proper way should be adopted, and the principle of gradual and orderly progress should also be employed. In the final analysis, improving people’s livelihood, and developing democracy means building China into a prosperous, strong, democratic, civilized and harmonious modern country.
