Abstract

Objective To study the safety and clinical efficacy of laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair for inguinal hernia, and to provide guidance for the clinical treatment of inguinal hernia. Methods Two hundred and fifty-five patients with inguinal hernia were randomized into observation group( n = 130) and control group( n = 125). The observation group underwent free stapling laparoscopic repair, while the control group underwent stapling laparoscopic repair. Operation and postoperative complications of two groups were compared. Results The operation time, the average hospitalization time and the average surgery expenses in the observation group were significantly lower than those in the control group with statistical difference( P 0. 05). Intraoperative blood loss was not statistically different between the two groups( P 0. 05). There were not statistically different between the two groups in such indexes as the rate of recurrence, chronic pain, paresthesia, scrotal hematoma, seroma, surgical site infection, hydrocele, bleeding, and urinary tract infection( P 0.05). Conclusions Free stapling laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair, compared with stapling laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair, has advantages of shorter operation and hospitalization time and lower expenses, which does not increase postoperative complications and amount of bleeding.
