Abstract
The basic conditions for the interaction between bromocresol green(BCG)and DNA were studied by UV-Vis spectrophotometry. It was found that the maximum absorbance of BCG-DNA complex was atλ 444nm .The effects of interaction time and temperature were insignificant, but varied with the pH values. The optimum pH was5.23.The results also showed that the higher the ion strength, the lower the absorbance of the complex formed, and that the foreign ions and biological agents have certain interfering effects on the abˉsorbance. The linear range of the calibration curve for the BCG-DNA complex was(0.61-7.30)×10 -7 mol/L.The apparent molar absorptivity was1.29×10 5 L·cm -1 ·mol -1 with a detection limit of7.74×10 -8 mol/L.
