Saintly Inside and Kingly Outside——On GUO Xiang′s Political Philosophy

The main purposes of GUO Xiang′s Neo-Taoism was to integrate ethic with nature,which had been separate in thoughts of RUAN Ji,JI Kang and PEI Wei,and to build a type of political philosophy which could adapt to the times.Beginning with his thought about human nature,GUO Xiang′s political philosophy got fully developed in three dimensions,namely,of the relations between saint and mortals,the relations between king and subjects,and the relations between society and individuals,and all of them were forever put beneath the centering mainline of relations between ethic and nature.GUO Xiang tried everything he could to integrate ethic with nature but without avail,it was,nonetheless,proved that Neo-Taoism in Wei-Jin Dynasties was not the philosophy divorced from reality.
