Clinical Observations on Treatment of Shoulder Periarthritis by Fire Needling

Abstract
Objective To seek clinically an effective method of treating shoulder periarthritis.Methods Twenty-four patients were randomly allocated to treatment and control groups.The treatment group was treated by fire needling and the control group,with conventional acupuncture.Results A pre-posttreatment difference in pain score was 30.04±2.81 in the treatment group and 16.30±3.83 in the control group.There was a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P0.01).After treatment,shoulder joint motor function score was 143.91±2.34 in the treatment group and 84.95±16.29 in the control group.There was also a statistically significant difference between the two groups(P(0.01)).The therapeutic effect was better in the treatment group than in the control group.Conclusion Fire needling has clinically a marked therapeutic effect on shoulder periarthritis.
