Abstract

Objective To establish a new method for detecting AmpC in Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae . Methods AmpC were measured by disc screen test and three dimensional extract test in 82 third cephalosporin resistant of Escherichia coli and 91 third cephalosporin resistant isolates of Klebsiella pneumoniae . Results Among above 173 isolates, 11 and 12 were AmpC positive by disc screen test and three dimensional extract test, respectively. Compared with three dimensional extract test, the sensitivity and specificity of disc screen test were 91.66% and 100%. Conclusions Disc screen test is a simple, rapid and practical method to measure AmpC.
