Abstract
Objective:To investigate the stress distribution in the unilateral distal-extension attachment denture supporting tissue with various abutment number. Method:Reconstructed the three-dimensional finite element models of the extracoronal attachment denture with mandibular KennedyⅡdentition defect, analyzed the stress distribution of the denture supporting tissue with von Mises ability of sustain pressure when vertical and lateral forces were applied. Result:On the different direction forces, the distant-abutments was subjected to the no-axial stress, the max stress were found at the distant-cervical,and that of the alveolar bone under the denture were found at the mesial and distal alveolar crest. When the abutment number was increased from one to two,the pressure of the distant-abutments periodontal membrane obliviously decreased;but when the abutment number was increased from two to three, the pressure obliviously decreased on the vertical and buccal-lingual forces, while the pressure no obliviously decreased on the lingual-buccal forces. Conclusion: The pressure decreased in supporting tissue was not in proportion to the numbers increased in abutment for repairing mandibular unilateral distal-extension edentulous dentition with extra-coronal attachment.
