Abstract
Objective To predict efficacy of operation by exploring the change of CT findings and cerebrospinal fluid flow dynamics before and after shunt surgery in normal pressure hydrocephalus.Methods Twenty-eight cases with normal-pressure hydrocephalus were enrolled from April,1997 to April,2005.All patients had instable gait and memory difficulty and urine irretention after craniocerebral injury and cerebral hemorrhage.Ventriculo-peritoneal shunt with medium-pressure shunts were performed in these patients.Results After follow-up from 6 months to 5 years after shunt,20 cases among them were improved in symptoms.Hydrocephalus was disappeared in CT findings.Conclusion It is an effective method to predict the shunt efficacy by exploring the change of CT findings and cerebrospinal fluid flow dynamics before and after the operation in patients with normal pressure hydrocephalus.
