Abstract
Objective Evaluating effects of radix salviae miltiorrhizae(RSM) on portalhemodynamics in patients with liver cirrhosis by using color Doppler system, and evaluating clinical value of Doppler ultrasound. Methods Liver cirrhotic patients were divided into two groups( RSM group and contrast group). The diameter, maximum blood velocity and blood flow of portal vein and splenic vein were measured using color Doppler system in both of the groups 2 weeks and 8-12 weeks after treatment respectively. Results After administration of RSM, the maximum velocity of portal vein was significantly inereased, meanwhile portal vein and splenic vein diameter, splenic vein blood flow were significantly decreased. No significant changes were recorded on portal vein blood flow in RSM group and on all hemodynamic parameters in contrast group. Conclusion Adminislration of RSM can decrease portal vein resistance, increase the maximum velocity of portal vein, decrease splenic vein blood flow and furthermore reduce portal pressure. Doppler ultrasound is valuable in evaluating treatment effects of medicine on portal hypertension.
