Abstract
Objective To explore the therapeutic effects of renal sympathetic denervation on patients with resistant hypertension Methods Two cases with resistant hypertension were enrolled to receive the radiofrequency Symplicity catheter based treatment Four to six points at the renal artery intima were ablated spirally Ablation indexes of each point included ablation time of 2 minutes, energy of 8 watts, impedance of 250-350 ohm and temperature of 50-60℃ Results Short term postoperative follow up showed that the blood pressure of two cases was well controlled In case 1, the preoperative blood pressure was 163/102 mm Hg initially and then declined gradually to 125/90 mm Hg 1 day after the procedure Along with the reduction of the dosage and sorts of antihypertensive drugs, the mean blood pressure was 129/82 mm Hg 1 month after the operation In case 2, the preoperative blood pressure was 151/102 mm Hg initially and then declined gradually to 120/78 mm Hg 1 day after the procedure Along with the reduction of the dosage and sorts of antihypertensive drugs, the mean blood pressure was 130/81 mm Hg 1 month later after the operation Conclusions Renal sympathetic denervation is a new effective method for treating patients with resistant hypertension
