Abstract

Objective To compare the clinical efficacy of two commonly used labor analgesia methods. Methods Fifty puerperae who delivered in our hospital between October 2010 to April 2013 were selected and divided into the pa tient controlled epidural analgesia group(PCEA group) and the nitrous oxide inhalation analgesia group(IA group) us ing the randomized control method, with 25 cases in each group. The analgesic effect, cesarean section rates, total labor time and neonate Apgar scores of the two groups were compared. Results The analgesic effective rate of the PCEA group was 96.0% and that of the IA group was 64.0%;The PCEA group had better analgesic effect than the IA group, with statistically significant difference(P0.05).The PCEA group had significantly lower cesarean section rate and shorter total labor time than the IA group, with statistically significant differences(P0.05).The two groups did not have statistically significant difference in the neonate Apgar score(P0.05).Conclusion Epidural controlled analgesia has more significant clinical effect, lower cesarean section rate and shorter total labor time than nitrous oxide inhalation analgesia and causes no significant side effects to the neonate, thereby worthy of clinical application and promotion.
