Abstract

The sugar accumulation of sweet sorghum in different seeding time and its stalk juice ethanol fermentation were investigated. Results showed that the change of total sugar accumulation in the stalk appeared “M” shape. And, in Shanghai area, the average value of the total sugar content in the stalk of sweet sorghum that seeded at the beginning of June was 46.50%higher than that of sweet sorghum seeded at the beginning of May. The difference of reducing sugar in different seeding time was not notable. When the seeding time was retarded by 30 days, the sugar retaining time and the available time of the stalk were prolonged about 10-30 days. Meanwhile, the ethanol fermentation time of immobilized yeast was shortened by 2/3, and the ethanol yield increased by 5.06% comparing with the free yeast ethanol fermentation technology.
