Abstract

Aesthetic education is an indispensable content in th e cultivation of China’ s talents with comprehensive qualities.Music education is an important part of school aesthetic education.On the basis of Western theories of aesthetic education,this paper discusses the significance of music education in the art education in institutions of higher learning.By reviewing the specific aesthetics existing in ancient Greek music and German classical philosophy,it makes a preliminary discussion on the importance of aesthetic education in the light of China’s Confucian musical education thought.It not only expounds the influence of the advanced Western aesthetics and music education thought on the aesthetic education in China and its enlightenment,but also puts forward some suggestions to improve and deepen aesthetic education and to pay close attention to the aesthetic purification of the mind,so as to achieve the purpose of training students with comprehensively developed personality.
