Abstract
China is among the countries short of land resources. While expanding pieces of land are used in non-agricultural sectors at the preliminary stages of urbanization, the remaining land in urban areas are used extensively and inefficiently. It is urgent to exploit potentiality of urban land and achieve higher efficiency of land use and integrated use of land in cities. This paper discusses the problems in intensive urban land use based on the analysis of the integrated land use in Wuhan City, and, with 19 cities in which non-agricultural population is over 200 millions as the evaluation unit, the paper analyzes the overall level of integrated urban land use by comparing the status of Wuhan City with those of other cities and proposes countermeasures concerning improvement of land productivity and development of sustainable use of land resources.
