Comparative study on the effects of compound medical herbs and flavomycin in swine

64 healthy,three-way crossbred(Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire) finishing pigs weighting about 55kg were divided into 2 groups:control group and experimental group(32 pigs/each group).Basic diet was made according to recent pig's feeding standard in our country.Pigs in control group pigs were fed with basal diet supplemented flavomycin(20 mg/kg),and pigs in the experimental group were fed with basal diet supplemented with 0.3% compound medical herbs.Formal feeding experiment peirod was 40 days.Feeding experimental results were as follows:1)The frequencies of diarrhea of the control group pigs were 4;those of the experimental group pigs were 2;2)The average daily gain of the experimental group pigs was significantly higher than that in control group pigs(P0.01);3)The GOT activity,TAG,and vLDL in serum of the experimental group pigs were lower than that in control group pigs(P0.05);4)the antibody against foot-and-mouth disease virus in serum of the experimental group pigs were higher than that in control group pigs(P0.05),but the GPT activity,TP,UN,Glu,Ca,P,Mg,IgG,and antibodies against swine fever,circovirus and PRRS virus in serum of the two group pigs have no remarkable differences(P0.05).Based on above results the conclusion was made:compared with flavomycin,compound medical herbs efficiently promotes growth of pigs and guarantees health,and improves nutritively biochemical metabolism at various degrees.
