A few Questions about Xunzi’s Essay on Heaven

Xunzi's Essay on Heaven is an important part of Xunzi's thought of philosophy,but there also exist a few questions worth deliberating:to seek knowledge and not to seek knowledge,a commentary on Zhuangzi's theory on the relation of Heaven and Man,definition of Human Nature and judgement of value,a commentary on Mencius'Doctrine of Human Nature,and so on.These issues show that it is necessary to review Xunzi's Essay on Heaven.“Poverty stricken or unobstructed determined by the times”,one of the Guodian Chu Slips,raises a topic as“observing the differences between Heaven and Man”,which must be one of the thought sources for Xunzi to put forward the topic as“Understanding the duties both of Heaven and Man”,but their connotations are not entirely the same.
