Abstract

The adsorption of methylene blue on XC-72 carbon was investigated. The results showed that the adsorption equilibrium time of methylene blue is 3 hours. The adsorption of methylene blue on XC-72 carbon fits well the pseudo-second-order rate equation and Langmuir isotherm model. While pH is 6.5,the maximum adsorption capacity was 40.11 mg·g-1 at 20℃ . The adsorption capacity improved with the pH improving. The adsorption of methylene blue is a spontaneous, entropy increasing, endothermic process.
