Abstract
Objective To investigate the combination use of the UF-1000i automated urine analyzer(UF-1000i) and DiaSys urinary sediment quantitative analysis workstation(R/S500) in detecting urinary cast.Methods 3492 samples were tested for urine cast by both UF-1000i and R/S500,and results of them were compared.Results 969(27.75%) samples were positive of cast tested by UF-1000i in 3492 samples.Meanwhile,157(4.50%) samples were positive of cast tested by R/S500.Sensitivity,specificity,false positive rate,false negative rate,positive predictive value and negative predictive value of UF-1000i in detection of cast was 91.08%,75.23%,24.77%,8.92%,14.76% and 99.45%,respectively.The difference between positive results of UF-1000i and R/S500 was statistically significant(P0.01).Conclusion UF-1000i automated urine analyzer can rapidly screen urine sediment,but had a higher false positive rate of cast,and there are some false negative samples.UF-1000i automated urine analyzer must be combined with the DiaSys(R/S500) urinary sediment quantitative analysis workstation to effectively reduce the false positive and false negative results and to prevent false and missing detection,and can also make the urine sediment analysis truly achieve standardization,automation.
