A Discussion on Freedom of the Press as an Independent Constitutional Right

Abstract
As a democratic right stipulated by constitution,the character of freedom of the press is still being disputed.The thesis explains the difference between freedom of the press and freedom of speech by analyzing the constitutional provisions,regarding it as a kind of institutional right,and taking into account its traditional role in safeguarding the public opinion formed and its modern role in supervising public power.Therefore,a conclusion could be drawn that freedom of the press is an independent constitutional right which has separated from freedom of speech.
