Abstract
Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) possess an extensive proliferative potential and ability to differentiate into various cell types. They may be derived from adult bone marrow, fat, and several fetal tissues. MSCs produce cytokines and growth factors that promote hematopoietic stem cell expansion and differentiation. MSCs also have immunomodulatory, anti-inflammatory, and tissue repair effects, that can reduce the incidence and severity of graft-versus-host disease and other concurrent disease.
