Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical characteristics and surgical experiences of the lateral ventricle tumors.Methods Clinical data of the19patients who were operated during the past eight years in our hospital were analyzed retrospectively.Results The clinical presentations of lateral ventricle tumors were untypical.Total resection was achieved in10cases,subtotal resection in6cases and gross resection in3cases.14cases had significant improvement of symptoms after operations.Conclusion Meningioma,astrocytoma,ependymoma were mainly diagnosed in lateral venˉtricles,and they had their main locations differently.The size,site and vascularity of the tumors influenced the choice of surgical approach which should allowmaximum exposure of the lesion and make an attempt to complete resection without damaging functional areas.
