Investigation and analysis of plant arrangement in Taiyanggong Park, Beijing

Plant species, growth condition and plant arrangement in Taiyanggong Park, Beijing, are investigated, and the application of plants is analyzed from the perspective of plant landscape, ecological function and social function. Plant species used in the park, their frequency and application forms are summarized. Some problems are pointed out and recommendations are made accordingly. Results showed that 73 plant species are employed in Taiyanggong Park, including 33 species of arbors, 22 of shrubs and 18 of herbs, belonging to 35 plant families. Main characteristics of plant arrangement in Taiyanggong Park are that plants are mainly native ones in Beijing, plant species are not rich enough and plant arrangement lacks of stratified mixture. Two typical plant communities are analyzed from the perspective of park function, ecological habits of plants and visual effects. The paper provides a basis for landscape design of garden plants.
