Abstract
Objective To investigate uncommon radiographic manifestations of pulmonary atelectasis. Methods Radiographic findings of 48 patients with unusual pulmonary atelectasis misdiagnosed on chest radiography and confirmed with CT and fiber bronchoscopy were reviewed. Results Among 48 patients with atypical atelectasis, 16 were in upper lobes, 2 in right middle lobe and 30 in lower lobes. All of pulmonary atelectasis resulted from bronchogenic carcinomas, bronchiectasis, bronchial tuberculosis ,and so on.Conclusion To avoid misdiagnosis of pulmonary atelectasis, the key is familiarity with radiographic manifestations of unusual pulmonary atelectasis.
