Diagnosis and treatment of the diaphragm injury

Objective To study experience with diagnosis and treatment of injury of the diaphragm.MethodsRetrospectively analyzed the 12 cases of injury of the diaphragm.11 patients suffering from penetrating injuries and the other was closed injury.All the patients who accompanied with other associated injuries were treated with operation.Thoracotony in 1patient,laparotomy in 7 patients,abdomin-thoraic incision in 4 patients,10 cases were diagnosed before operation. Results Twenty patients were cured. Conclusion Chest X-ray,chest and the upper abdomen CT are the most realiable method in diagnosis,and help to choose operational incision.Operation is the only way to cure injury of the diaphragm.Operational incision decided by condition of injury of the chest or abdomen.
