Abstract
Due to the rapid flow,shallow bottom,dange rous zone and curve,Shiwutan shoal is a famous dangerous shoal in the central s ea outlet waterway serving southwestern China (Guangxi section of Hongshuihe riv er),which brings great difficulty to regulation. After analyzing the water flow condition and the feature of navigation barrier based on the observed hydrologi c data,the article proposes a regulation proposal. Furthermore,waterway regula tion design has also been done with reference to the result of physic model test . The design is not only limited to improving the waterway dimension as required for navigation grade. The shoal entrance or relevant locations shall also be wi dened and deepened for the purpose of flow reduction and gradient ratio reductio n. By this way,the flow status will be improved to satisfy the navigation deman d. After project implementation,the size of channel has been enlarged to avoid dangerous,narrow and curve problem.
