Abstract
By using traditional ecological footprint method and its modification,emergy ecological footprint method,the paper compared and analyzed the sustainable development status of Hubei Province in 2008.The results showed that the ecological deficits based on conventional ecological footprint method was 1.37 hm2,and based on emergy ecological footprint method was 3.96 hm2.Thus,the calculating results of two methods could reflect the social and economic sustainable development of the study area,What is more,the emergy ecological footprint method could truly reflect the environmental conditions of regional ecological economic system.
