Abstract

Objective To observe the changes of the intercellular spaces of squamous epithelium of lower esophagus in gastroesophageal reflux disease(GERD) with esomeprazole. Methods Measure the DIS of 5 healthy volunteers by random selection to be the normal reference value.Select 6 cases with non-erosive GERD(NERD) and 5 cases with reflux esophagitis(RE) to be objective observation in the treatment group.Biopsies were taken at 3~5 cm above the dentate line after 3 months treatment with esomeprazole to observe and analyze the DIS changes than no-treatment.Results After 3 months threatment,5/6 cases'DIS had been normal in NERD group(83.3%),4/5 cases'DIS had been normal in RE group(80%).The 2 cases'DIS hadn't been normal and their clinical symptoms hadn't been disappear. Conclusion After 3 months threatment with esomeprazole in GERD,the changes of DIS is remarkable, the improvement of the clinical symptoms is remarkable too.
