Abstract

A procedure is reported for the determination of trace thiocynate based on the catalytic effect of thiocyanate on oxidation of sodium azide by iodine. The reaction is monitored spectrophotometrically at 578nm(the starch has been added). Calibration curves for thiocyanate were linear in the range 0.085-1.19 μg/mL, with the detection limit of 0.0456 μg/mL. The method was applied for the determination of thiocyanate in the different water sample.
