The Study on the Connotation and the Social Function of Scientific Spirit

Scientific spirit is both a basic state of mind and a mode of thinking impenetrating scientific activities, which is decided by the nature of science and manifests itself as realistic and rational approach, positivist and sceptical attitude, the desire to seek truth, and independence and principle consciousness. Scientific spirit has two social functions as follows: it is helpful to establishing a Marxist world outlook and methodology and to building a socialist society with advanced culture and ethics.
