Abstract
Water footprint and virtual water are the hot topics in the field of international water resources research.Virtual water, specially for the virtual water in farm productions, may have a great effect on the uneven distribution of water resources in China. In this paper the concept of virtual water and water footprint were used to calculate virtual water content in major agricultural products in 2000 and 2002,and the author made an analysis of the variation trend of virtual water in five regions in China, showing that the virtual water of farm productions was increasing. The result indicated China was a highly autarkic country in filling water resource, but every region had more distinction.
