Abstract
Objective To investigate the production of extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBLs) in Klebsiella pneumoniae. Methods ESBLs of Klebsiella were screened by double disk diffusion test and E test.SHV beta-lactamase gene was detected by SHV-PCR, and SHV-ESBL were further examined by PCR-NheⅠmethod.Results Among 36 strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae 30 strains produced beta-lactamases, 31 strains contained SHV beta-lactamase genes, 8 strains were positive ESBLs phenotype and 3 strains were SHV-ESBLs.Conclusion Klebsiella pneumoniae is one of the most common species which produce ESBLs.More attention should be paid to its detection and surveillance.
