Abstract

Plant growth-promoting rhizobacteria(PGPR) are microorganisms colonized in the plant rhizosphere, which can promote the plant growth and yield, and inhibit plant pathogens. As an important resource of biofertilizer and biocontrol agents,PGPR have been paid more and more attention by researchers in the sustainable agriculture. This paper reviewed progresses on the concept development, functioning mechanisms, study techniques and the application of PGPR.In addition, the theoretical and practical significance of banana PGPR were disscused, and some future directions in PGPR study were suggested.
