Abstract
Ebola virus(EBOV)causes severe hemorrhagic fever in humans and nonhuman primates with high mortality rates.Zaire ebola virus is the cause of the 2013-2014 Ebola virus epidemic in West Africa. Rapid identification of the virus is urgently required to prevent the spread of the infection. The real-time qutification PCR assay and the loop-mediated isothermal amplification assay(LAMP) have been developed for EBOV detection; the nucleic acid sequence-based amplification assay(NASBA) and the recombinase polymerase amplification assay(RPA) have great potential for diagnosis of EBOV in the field. This review highlights various methods that can be used for a sensitive detection of EBOV nucleic acids.
