Abstract

A thermoelastohydrodynamic lubrication model of main bearings in internal combustion engines is established. The influences of the groove width, angle and location on lubrication behavior of main bearings are investigated after different kinds of grooves are pre-set.The results show that the width of groove greatly affects the main bearings lubrication behavior. The width of grooves for optimal lubrication performance of main bearings lies between(0.03-0.15)B probably. The angle and location of groove also affect the lubrication behavior of main bearings. The lubrication performance of the main bearings with circumferential grooves is much better when the angle of groove is within 0°-90° or 270°-90°.
