Abstract
A pilot test to evaluate the closed double-SRT activated sludge process in Zhuyuan Second Wastewater Treatment Plant in Shanghai was carried out.The concentrations of COD,NH+4-N,NO-3-N and TN in the effluent from the ordinary aeration tank,A/O tank and secondary settling tank were determined, and the pollutant removal process and mechanism were analyzed.Furthermore, the microbial community structure was studied using FISH and PCR-DGGE.The results showed that the closed double-SRT activated sludge process was similar to the BABE.In the A/O tank, nitrobacteria were cultivated and transferred to the ordinary aeration tank continuously. The ordinary aeration tank could remove NH+4-N in a short SRT,thus the nitrification efficiency of the system was enhanced.
