Abstract
Lipid peroxidation and activity of cell defense enzymes in leaves of one-yearold Gleditsia sinensis Lam.seedlings were studied under drought and salt stresses. The results show that under drought and salt stresses, the content of MDA and electrolyte leakage took on an increasing trend;that the activities of SOD,POD,CAT increased at first and then decreased;that with the prolonging of treatment, electrolyte leakage and content of MDA took on an increasing trend;and that the activities of SOD,POD decreased while the activities of CAT increased at first and then decreased. The comprehensive analysis indicates that under the intercross stresses of salt and drought, the seedlings of Gleditsia sinensis Lam.showed some tolerance to salt and drought and this further indicates that appropriate drought stress can increase the seedlings' resistance to salt stress.
