Abstract
Objective To study the ultrasonic features and diagnostic value of ultrasonography in subclavian steal syndrome (SSS).Methods Ultrasound images of 21 patients with SSS were analyzed and compared with the results of CT or MRA.Results Of the 21 patients with SSS,sixteen were on left side and five on right side,including latent stage in two cases,early transient stage in three cases,late transient stage in six cases,complete retrograde flow stage in ten cases.The retrograde flow in the vertebral artery correlated with the degree of stenosis of ipsilateral proximal subclavian or innominate artery.Conclusion The degree of retrograde flow in vertebral artery has positive relation with the degree of stenosis in proximal subclavian or innominate artery in SSS.
