Abstract
Objective To explore the clinical value of the simple laparoscopic operation for children's indirect inguinal hernia. Methods Eighty-seven cases of indirect inguinal hernia in children from December 2004 to June 2007 were treated using the simple treatment of laparoscopic high ligation of hernia ,then the clinical data were analyzed retrospectively. Results All cases were operated successfully. The mean of operative time was 10 to 20 min in unilateral hernia and 20 to 30 min in bilateral hernia . The mean of postoperative hospital stay was 2 to 3 d . All patients had been followed-up for 6 to 24 months, one case of huge opening of hernia recurrence. no scrotum hematoma ,scrotum gas, testicular inflammation, testicular atrophy,no poke holes hernia and no other complications were observed in this group. Conclusions Treatment for indirect inguinal hernia in children using laparoscopic technique is simple, effective ,no scar, least injury, low recurrence rate and safe, and in need of simple surgical instruments. But the indications and methods and skills of surgery should be attention.
