Abstract
Phanerochaete chrysosporium mycelial pellet, which was cultured with the usual liquid culture medium of(Aspergillus) niger, was used to adsorb Cd~(2+) and Zn~(2+) in wastewater. The study reviewed the effects of the initial pH values, biosorption time and(co-existing) ions to the biosorption of Cd~(2+) and Zn~(2+) with Phanerochaete chrysosporium in wastewater.Under the same conditions, the effects of the initial concentration of heavy metals to biosorption were studied, and according to the linear conversion between final concentration of heavy metals and biosorption capacity,Langmuir and Freundlich isotherm models can perfectly describe the biosorption of Cd~(2+) and Zn~(2+) with Phanerochaete chrysosporium.Compared with(Phanerochaete) chrysosporium adsorbed by Cd~(2+) and Zn~(2+) by infrared spectroscopy, the major components and the structure of Phanerochaete chrysosporium remained intact. The peak at 3302 cm~(-1) shifted to 3363 and 3396 cm~(-1) respectively.
