Abstract
The heterosis and combining ability for quality relative traits of 4 Japonica male sterile lines and 4 restorer lines was studied on 16 crosses made with them by the way of NCⅡdesign. Results showed that in general, the most data of hybrid rice's quality traits were between parents',and were near to those of check inbred rice variety. However, the quality traits of hybrid rice could be improved through selecting parents to cross. The restorer line C852,C224,and sterile lines 60A,14A,with larger GCA and SCA of quality traits, had a larger value in breeding practice. In addition, the quality of hybrid rice was affected by its parents, and most quality traits were affected more by restorer lines than by male sterile lines.
