Abstract
Objective To investigate the effect of hydroprednisone on onset time and recovery time of rocuronium in female patients during general anesthesia. Methods Forty ASA ⅠorⅡfemale patients, aged 18-65yr,body mass index 18.5-25kg /m 2,scheduled for elective thyroid or breast surgery were randomly divided into two groups with 20each:hydroprednisone group(group H) and control group(group C).30mg of hydroprednisone was injected in patients of group H 50min before anesthesia induction.Same anesthesia was induced in both groups. The train-of-four(TOF) ratio at the adductor pollicis muscle was measured by TOF-watch.The following parameters were measured including onset time, duration of recovery to a TOF rate of 25%,75% and from 25% to 75%.Results The onset time in group H [(129.30±28.57)s] was significantly longer than that in group C [(83.55±17.90)] s(P0.05).The duration to a TOF rate of 25% and 75% were significantly reduced in group H [(40.95±2.89) and(50.65±4.63) min],respectively compared with that in group C [(49.55±5.81) and(62.50±5.19) min](P 0.05).The recovery time of TOF ratio from 25%to 75%in group H [(9.70±2.83) min] is shorter than that in group C [(12.95±4.65) min(P0.05).Conclusion Hydroprednisone may result in a longer onset time, but shorter recovery time of rocuronium in female patients during general anesthesia.
