Abstract
OBJECTIVE:To probe into the drug use in elderly patients and analyze the irrational drug use.METHODS:We conducted a retrospective analysis on the medication orders for 510 elderly patients from the Department of Geriatrics and performed a statistical analysis on the irrational drug use.RESULTS:The irrational drug use manifested prominently as the following:many kinds of drugs used in combination,dosage unadjusted in accordance with patients' body condition and frequent drug interactions.CONCLUSION:Great importance should be attached to the irrational drug use in elderly patients.It is advisable to reduce the rate of combined drug use,timely adjust the dosage and shorten course of treatment to further improve the rationality of drug use in elderly patients.
