On The Nine Defects of Practical Aesthetics

Abstract
Although practical aesthetics has made great contribution to the development of aesthetics, it inevitably has many pitfalls as well. Practical aesthetics is a theory of practice-determinism, origin-deciding-nature theory, and epistemology based on aesthetic feeling, which takes the objective existence of beauty for granted, misunderstands beauty as ideology, and neglects the subjectivity of receptor. Therefore it has limited views about freedom, natural beauty and arts.
