Abstract
A method had been developed for analysis of formaldehyde in fabrics by GC-MS using headspace solid phase extraction.Samples were treated with 1mg/mL o-(2,3,4,5,6-Pentafluorobenzyl) hydroxylamine(PFBOA) in a sealed vial at 60℃ for 30min.Headspace was then extracted by solid-phase microextraction(SPME) with 65μm PDMS/DVB and directly analyzed by gas chromatography/mass spectrometry(GC/MS) at selected ion method(SIM) mode. This headspace SPME-GC/MS is highly sensitive for target compound because it eliminates interference from the sample matrix solution. The limits of detection were 0.02 mg/kg with average recovery between 94.9 %~98.7 % at different spiking level. The relative standard deviation of the compounds in spiked sample were 2.97 %~4.59 % respectively.
