Abstract
Objective:To improve the diagnosis and treatment of retrocaval ureter.Metods:The diagnosis of this disease depends on imaging examinations, such as intravenous urography(IVU),retrograde ureterography(RU)or MR urography(MRU).IVU and RU of MRU showed right hydronephrosis with reversed jshaped or S shaped ureter.Surgical operation was used to treat this disease. The compressed retrocaval portion of the ureter was resected and end-to-end anastomosis was performed anterior to the vena cava in 7 cases. Results:All of the 8 cases were correctly diagnosed preoperatively,7 cases had been operated and 1 case was treated conservatively.B-ultrasound and IVU revealed improvement of hydronephrosis and no ureter stenosis was observed postoperatively.Conclutions:IVU and RU were the first choice to dianose tetrocaval ureter.Segmental resection of the urete with end-to-end anastomosis was the ideal procedure for the treatment of this disease.
